PENN ST.-ABINGTON CRUISES TO VICTORY

(Abington, Pa.)─ The Wells College women's basketball team scored just 11 points in the first half as the Penn. St. Abington Nittany Lions rolled to a 53-27 victory over the Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon in Abington, Pa. The loss drops the Express to 2-12 (2-10 NEAC) while the Nittany Lions improve to 3-10 (2-8 NEAC).
 
Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y./Camden) led the Express with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Trish Watson and Samantha Frick each scored 15 points to lead the Nittany Lions.
 
The Express were held to 25.5 percent from the floor and were just 2 of 14 from the charity stripe as the Nittany Lion defense controlled the majority of the game. Abington did not fare much better from the floor, finishing 36 percent from the field but capitalized from the foul line finishing 11 of 17 for the game.
 
The Nittany Lions jumped out to a nine point lead early but the Express battled back to within five (16-11) with 10:09 to play in the half. It was all Abington from there as they would hold the Express scoreless over the final ten minutes while the Nittany Lions poured in 18 points to open a 34-11 lead at the break. Abington continued to roll in the second half, leading by as many as 30 points before closing with the 26 point victory.
 
The Express return to action on Tuesday against NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill at 6 p.m. in Cobleskill, N.Y.
