Roser Tied For NCAA Division III Lead In Double-Doubles

AURORA, N.Y. – Junior Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's basketball team is tied for first place amongst all NCAA Division III players in double-doubles, the NCAA Statistics Office announced earlier this week. Roser and the Express possess a 9-10 overall record alongside an 8-3 mark against North Eastern Athletic Conference opponents, the best start in their three year program history.

This season, Roser has posted 16 double-doubles to her credit, scoring double-digit point and rebound totals in all but three games on the season for Wells. She is tied for first amongst all Division III players with senior Sarah Collins of nationally-ranked Babson College. In addition to her national ranking in double-doubles, Roser also ranks second with 15.6 rebounds per game and 23rd amongst qualifying players by averaging 19.2 points per game.

With an average of 15.6 rebounds per game through the team's 19 games of the season, Roser also ranks second behind Bard College's Tytravia Riley, a freshman, who averages 15.8 boards per contest.

For her career, Roser has tallied 53 career double-doubles in only 63 games. Last season, Roser ranked 11th amongst Division III student-athletes with 16 double-doubles and as a freshman in 2010-11, she placed sixth in the category by tallying 21. During the 2011-12 season, Roser finished the season ranked third nationally with 14.4 rebounds per game. As a freshman in 2010-11, Roser ranked sixth overall with 21 double-doubles and eighth in points per game (21.9).

Additionally, Roser stands alone as the program's all-time record holder in many offensive and defensive categories, including points (1,265), scoring average (20.1), field goals made (437), field goals attempted (1,008), field goal percentage (.434), free throws made (377), free throws attempted (515), rebounds (910), rebounding average (14.4), assists (153), blocks (167), blocking average (2.7), steals (120), games started (57) and minutes played (2,143).

As a rookie goalkeeper for the women's soccer this season, Roser was also nationally ranked in total saves by turning aside 191 shots on goal for the Express. She concluded her first collegiate season as a goalkeeper with a 2.81 goals-against average alongside a .780 save percentage in just over 1,728 minutes of action between the pipes.

Including Roser, six players in Wells College history since the 1999-00 season have concluded their athletic seasons ranked within the top 10 nationally in official NCAA statistical categories. Juan Paulino of the men's basketball team led all NCAA Division III players in rebounds per game (16.5) while also posting the nation's best field goal percentage (.705). Beth Cereo '10, a member of the field hockey program, ranked fourth in saves per game (13.27) in 2006 while finishing 10th in the nation in the same category (11.28) in 2007.

Emily Lotkowictz '10 was nationally ranked in five different categories during her women's lacrosse career. In 2009, she ranked third in goals per game (5.9) and fifth in draw controls per game (5.2). During her senior season, she finished second in the nation with 7.33 points per game, sixth in total points (110) and ninth in both goals per game (4.4) and assists per game (2.93.) Mike Birklin '10 ranked sixth in the nation in saves per game (9.4) as a member of the men's soccer team in 2006 while Tracy Chappell '04 of the softball program ranked third nationally in triples per game (.300) in 2002.
