Roser Draws Women's DIII News Preseason All-American Honorable Mention

AURORA, N.Y. – Senior Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's basketball team was selected to the 2013-14 Preseason All-American Honorable Mention list by Women's DIII News. The announcement, made in the October 2013 issue of the newsletter, also tabbed Roser as the preseason North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

En route to earning 2012-13 North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year merits, Roser led the Wells College women's basketball team to the playoffs in only their third year of existence. Roser scored her 1,000th career point against the Saxons of Alfred University on Nov. 28, 2012 while securing her 1,000th career rebound on Feb. 10 of this year. She was also able to set the program's single-game scoring mark of 39 total points against the Wildcats of SUNY Institute of Technology, also on Feb. 10.

Roser racked up a double-double across 24 of her 26 games played and boasts 61 career double-doubles in 71 total games played across her three-year playing career. She has recorded at least 10 points in her past 34 games and has failed to reach double-digit point totals in only two of her 71 career games played. She has also recorded double-digit rebound totals in all but only eight career games.

Following the season, Roser claimed the NCAA Division III statistical championship after racking up 16.7 rebounds per game across a 26 game schedule, placing first amongst all qualifying NCAA Division III women's basketball players nationwide. Roser also finished the year ranking second with 24 double-doubles, third in triple-doubles with one, 10th in points per game with 21.2 and 14th with an average of 2.77 blocked shots per game.

Across her career, Roser has been feted by several different organizations for her performance across the prior women's basketball season. Women's DIII News listed Roser as an Honorable Mention after drawing D3Hoops.com 2013 Women's All-East Region Second Team for her accomplishments across the season prior. Additionally, Women's DIII News has listed her as a Preseason All-American Honorable Mention for the fourth-straight season.

Roser currently holds the single-game program records in points scored (39), field goals made (13, 2/10/13 at SUNYIT), field goals attempted (2x, 29, vs. Morrisville St., 11/23/10; at Cazenovia, 12/1/10), free throws made (17, vs. Cazenovia, 1/22/11), free throws attempted (19, vs. Cazenovia, 1/22/11), free throw percentage (1.000, 3x, most recently 13-13, at SUNYIT, 2/10/13), most rebounds (31, vs. Penn St.-Berks, 2/13/11), and most blocked shots (10, at Cazenovia, 1/30/13).
 
For her career, Roser ranks at the top of the program record book in many statistical categories, including points (1,471), scoring average (20.7), field goals made (508), field goals attempted (1,157), free throws made (439), free throws attempted (599), rebounds (1,063), rebounding average (15.0), assists (168), blocked shots (199), blocked shots average (2.8), steals (136), games started (65) and minutes played (2,431).

In single-season rankings, Roser has led the team in numerous categories including points (551, 2012-13), scoring average (21.9, 2010-11), field goals made (199, 2012-13), field goals attempted (459, 2010-11), free throws made (162, 2010-11), free throws attempted (225, 2010-11), rebounds (433, 2012-13), rebounding average (16.7, 2012-13), blocked shots (84, 2010-11), blocked shots average (3.4, 2011-12), steals average (2.5, 2011-12) and minutes played average (35.5, 2010-11).

Wells opens their fourth season as a varsity program Friday, Nov. 15 as they face-off against Brockport St. in an 8:00 p.m. road contest.
