Wells To Compete At NEAC Women's Basketball Championship

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Wells College women's basketball team will compete at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Basketball Championship Tournament beginning Saturday, Mar. 1 at 8:00 p.m. Following the final weekend of play during the regular season, the league office has announced the tournament's full schedule of games. Both the NEAC men's and women's basketball tournaments will be held on the campus of Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pa.

The Express, who earned a first round bye after clinching the NEAC North Division Regular Season title on Saturday, will play Gallaudet University after the Bison posted a 69-61 victory over St. Elizabeth in the opening round of the NEAC Tournament. Earlier in the season, Wells posted a 67-54 victory over the Bison at the Frances Tarlton Farenthold Athletic Wing.

The Express, who concluded their regular season on Sunday, Feb. 23, posted their best season in team history after finishing with an 18-7 overall record alongside a league mark of 13-3. Wells set program records for overall victories (18), league wins (13), longest winning streak (10 games, Jan. 22 to Feb. 22), home wins (9), away wins (8), points scored (1,683), scoring average (67.3), field goals made (639), field goal percentage (.376) rebounding average (51.3) and total rebounding (1,282).

Additionally, the team's NEAC North Division Title is the school's first regular season division championship since the women's tennis team at Wells posted a 6-0 conference record to secure the top spot in the league's West Division in 2011-12.
