Erkson Earns NEAC Third Team All-Conference Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Junior Holli Erkson (Cooperstown, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's basketball team earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Third Team All-Conference placement, the league office announced Wednesday. Erkson becomes only the second player in team history to earn an All-Conference spot.

Erkson, a captain for the Express, wrapped up a successful junior campaign and led the team in virtually every offensive category. She led her team in point scoring per game (14.0), total points scored (336), steals (58), field goals made (121), minutes played (797) and minutes played per game (33.2). Her 48 three-point field goals not only led the team, but were also the most made in a single-season in Wells history.

"Holli had a tremendous year for our team," remarked Head Coach Mike O'Brien. "With the loss of four seniors from the season prior, she assumed a greater role in point scoring, rebounding and leadership. I am pleased that she was recognized with a spot on the All-Conference team and am looking forward to what should be a strong senior season."

Ranked seventh in the NEAC in three-point field goal percentage (.361), she also ranked ninth amongst conference players with 58 steals. Her .385 three-point field goal percentage in NEAC contests was even better, ranked fifth amongst league players. Overall, Erkson finished the season with the conference's 14th-best scoring average with 14 points per game.

Starting all 24 games, Erkson had a career day against Penn College on Feb. 14 as she scored 28 points following an impressive 12-for-16 shooting performance from the floor. She also led the team with seven steals, ranked second all-time in single game history, and six assists while pouring home a team-leading three shots from beyond the arc. Her five three-point baskets against Morrisville State on Feb. 17 were the second-most in single game history.

In her career, Erkson has played in 71 career games for Wells and is a career .349 shooter from the field. She ranks first in team history in three-point field goals made (96) and free throw percentage (.779) while placing second in career point scoring (747). Her 307 career rebounds and 170 career assists rank her fourth all-time.

Wells, who qualified for the NEAC postseason for the third-straight year, concluded their fifth season as a varsity program Tuesday evening with a 9-15 record and an 8-10 mark within conference play.
