AURORA, N.Y. – For the fourth-straight season, the Wells College women's basketball team has qualified for the upcoming North Eastern Athletic Conference postseason. Wells will enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed out of the NEAC North Division and will square off against the second-seeded and host Mustangs from Morrisville State College on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

Wells has racked up an impressive 16-9 overall record alongside a 12-6 record in conference play, posting the second-most wins in both categories in program history. Offensively, the Express has set team records by averaging 72.4 points per game and shooting 39.4% from the floor (699-for-1773). Wells has also posted 294 steals in 2015-16, a single-season program record.

Junior Ashida Cooper (Bensalem, Pa.) has recorded a stellar first-year campaign for Wells, ranking 13th nationally in steals (84), 14th in field goals made (180) and 15th in steals per game (3.65) entering the previous weekend's schedule of games. Her .533 field goal percentage (203-for-381) at the end of the regular season ranks her second overall in the NEAC while her 19.6 points per game places her fourth amongst the league's women's basketball players.

Senior Holli Erkson (Cooperstown, N.Y.) joins Cooper as a threat for Wells on offense. Scoring her 1,000th career point earlier in the year against Wilson, Erkson finished the regular season ranked 11th overall in the conference in three-point baskets (50) and was ranked 13th overall in field goals made (134), assists (66) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1).

Head Coach Mike O'Brien, in his sixth season with the Express cagers, owns the longest active women's basketball postseason streak in the NEAC by one coach. The winners of the 2013-14 NEAC Championship over Lancaster Bible, O'Brien's squad has never faced-off against the Mustangs in the league's postseason.

Wells holds the 7-5 advantage against Morrisville State in the all-time series. Most recently, however, the Mustangs have captured three out of the last four contests that includes a come-from-behind 72-69 victory over Wells. In that contest, the Mustangs rallied in the fourth quarter and completed the comeback in the waning minutes of regulation to capture the win.

The Express secured a comfortable 69-58 win against the Mustangs at home on Dec. 2, 2015. In that contest, Wells overcame a halftime deficit of 38-33 by outscoring the visitors 36-to-20 in the final 20 minutes of regulation time. Four different players recorded double-digit points for Wells, including Cooper, Erkson and freshmen Carley Ryan (Middleburgh, N.Y.) and Shelby Medovich (Harpursville, N.Y.).
