Ithaca Pulls Away For Women's Basketball Win Over Wells

The Wells College women's basketball team played in non-conference action and fell by a score at Ithaca College on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at Ithaca's Ben Light Gymnasium.

Ashida Cooper led Wells with 19 points and six rebounds. She added two steals, an assist and a blocked shot. All nine players for the Express played 14 minutes or more. Carley Ryan scored nine points, and Miranda Mingen scored a career-best six points and added four rebounds.

The Express played close in the first quarter and trailed 17-14 with 2:35 remaining in the first, but Ithaca closed the quarter with a 7-1 run and led 24-15. Ithaca implemented its press in the second quarter and limited Wells to seven points. The Bombers led 44-22 at halftime.

Wells shot 11-for-15 at the free-throw line.

Wells stands at 3-3 overall, while Ithaca improved to 6-1 on the year. The Express closes its first-semester schedule with a road game Thursday at Nazareth College at 6 p.m.
