All-Region Honors for Ashida Cooper

Wells College women's basketball senior guard Ashida Cooper was honored as an all-region selection by D3hoops.com as Cooper was voted to the East Region Second Team in a vote of communications professionals and media members.

The All-East Region teams honor the most excellent players from the season over a region that includes 48 teams including the membership of the North Eastern Athletic Conference, Liberty League, SUNY Athletic Conference, Empire 8, UAA Members University of Rochester and New York University, and select independents.

Cooper is just the second player in women's basketball program history to earn this distinction, joining Ashley Roser who was on the East Region First Team in 2013-14 and the Second Team in 2012-13.

Cooper leads the nation in scoring with a 25.5 points per game average. She scored in double figures in all 22 games that she appeared in, including a school-record 40-point performance Nov. 30 at Cazenovia. Cooper scored 30 points or more seven times. She ranked in the top-15 in the conference in rebounds per game, assists per game, and steals per game.

On Feb. 17 against St. Elizabeth, Cooper surpassed the 1,000-career-points milestone. She is the third player in Wells history to reach that mark. Cooper finished her career with 1,050 points and ranks third all-time in scoring for the Express despite playing just two seasons.

Wells finished the season with an 11-12 overall record and 10-8 record in the NEAC. It is the fourth time in the last five years that the Express had a winning record in conference games.
