Wells Women's Basketball Falls To Medaille

The Wells College women's basketball team lost 67-46 against Medaille College on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Schwartz Athletic Center in Aurora, N.Y. Shelby Medovich led Wells with 14 points.

Wells jumped out to a quick start in the first quarter. Medovich scored seven straight points and Wells took a 9-6 lead four minutes into the first. Medaille answered with a 19-0 run over the remainder of the first quarter and first four minutes of the second quarter to take a 14-point lead.

Wells pushed back in the closing minutes of the second quarter with a 3-pointer by Julia Smith, a free throw from Medovich, and a steal and layup by Yanna Ososkalo at the halftime buzzer. Medaille led 29-19 at halftime.

Medaille pulled away in the third quarter by outscoring Wells 22-9.

Medovich had 14 points to lead the Express. Julia Smith scored eight points, and Kamarie Maturine added seven points and 12 rebounds. Carley Ryan had three steals, one blocked shot, and two assists.

Medaille improved its record to 3-3. Wells is 1-4.

Wells begins North Eastern Athletic Conference play Saturday at Cazenovia College at 3 p.m. The Express returns home Sunday at 1 p.m. against Elmira.
