Carley Ryan Is NEAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Wells College women's basketball junior guard Carley Ryan was selected has the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 11, 2018. Ryan was the team's leading scorer in a two-game week for the Express.

Ryan is a junior from Middleburgh, N.Y. and in her third season with the women's basketball program. She is also a three-year member of the Wells women's soccer team.

In Thursday's 63-34 win over Penn College, Ryan scored 17 points in 23 minutes of playing time. She added two rebounds, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in the Wells victory. Saturday afternoon against Morrisville, Ryan scored a career-high 39 points and she led two second-half comebacks as Wells forced overtime before falling 92-88. Ryan's 39 points included eight made 3-pointers, which is a single-game school record. Ryan added nine rebounds and two assists against Morrisville.

It is the first basketball weekly honor of the season for a Wells women's basketball player and the first weekly basketball award in the career of Carley Ryan. For the season, Ryan is averaging 14.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Wells closes out regular-season play this week with a Wednesday, Feb. 14 home game against SUNY Poly at 7 p.m. at part of I Heart Wells Week, and then plays Saturday, Feb. 17 at SUNY Cobleskill.
