Slow Start Dooms Wells In Women's Basketball Loss

The Wells College women's basketball team fell behind early and lost 76-54 to visiting SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. SUNY Poly scored the first 15 points of the game and never trailed.

Wells senior forward Kamarie Maturine led the Express with 15 points in the final home game of her four-year career. Yanna Ososkalo, also a senior, added 13 points and senior Dallia Rorick had six points.

Maturine was the team's leading rebounder with nine and also had a team-best five assists.

Wells shot 30 percent from the field in the first half as SUNY Poly built its advantage.

The Express is 8-16 overall and 7-8 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. First-place SUNY Poly is 18-6 overall and 14-1 in the NEAC.

Wells wraps up its season with a Saturday, Feb. 17 game at SUNY Cobleskill at 3 p.m.
