SUNY Poly Starts Fast, Beats Women's Basketball

The Wells College women's basketball team went on the road and lost 66-41 at SUNY Poly on Wednesday, Jan. 16 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup. SUNY Poly raced out to a 38-15 lead at halftime and led the rest of the way.

Wells trailed 21-9 after the opening quarter. SUNY Poly stretched its lead to 23 points at halftime by outscoring the Express 17-6 in the second quarter.

Wells had a 13-12 advantage in the third quarter and the fourth quarter was a 16-13 scoring margin in SUNY Poly's favor.

Carley Ryan scored 19 points on the night, with 12 of those coming in the second half. Ryan led Wells with four assists. Shelby Medovich scored 10 points and added eight rebounds. Maritza Scharoun had a team-best 10 rebounds.

Wells continues NEAC play Saturday at 1 p.m. with a home game against Morrisville State.
