Comeback Victory For Wells Women's Basketball

The Wells College women's basketball team came through down the stretch and earned a 61-59 victory at Morrisville State on Tuesday, Feb. 5. It was the second NEAC win of the season for Wells. The Express trailed by two points at halftime, tied it after the third quarter, and won it in the fourth.

Wells trailed 30-28 at halftime, but outscored Morrisville State in the third 16-14 led by six third-quarter points from Shelby Medovich.

In the fourth quarter, Wells led 50-49 with five minutes left. Two baskets for Carley Ryan were answered by two from Morrisville's Charlotte Walker and Wells led 54-53. The last seven points of the game for the Express were scored from the free-throw line. Jordan Jacobs made one, Shelby Medovich made three, and Carley Ryan made three. At the defensive end, Ryan and Jacobs had steals in the final minute to help preserve the victory.

Ryan led Wells with 21 points and seven assists. Medovich had 16 points with 10 rebounds. Jacobs scored nine points and Maritza Scharoun had eight points.

Wells had a 43-41 rebounding advantage.

The Express is home this weekend for a Saturday, Feb. 9 home game against Lancaster Bible College and a Sunday, Feb. 10 home game against Gallaudet.
