Women's Basketball Honors Seniors In Final Home Game

The Wells College women's basketball team honored its seniors and wrapped up the 2018-19 season with a home game to close out the year on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. SUNY Poly won the game 92-48.

The Wells senior class includes Autumn McLain, Miranda Mingen, Carley Ryan, Shelby Medovich, and team intern Alyssa Venable.

SUNY Poly led 24-16 after the first quarter. Ryan scored the first 11 points of the game for Wells. SUNY Poly pulled away in the second quarter by outscoring Wells 31-8 and it was 55-24 at halftime.

The Wildcats had five players score in double-figures and brought a committed effort as they were in contention for the NEAC North Division title heading into the final day of the regular season. SUNY Poly held a 41-20 rebounding advantage.

Ryan finished with 20 points for Wells. Medovich scored 16 points for the Express. That tandem became the fourth and fifth players in program history to reach 1,000 career points earlier this season. They finished their careers ranked second and third in career points at Wells. Ashley Roser is the career points leader with 2,093, followed by Medovich at 1,142 and Ryan at 1,125.

Mingen led Wells with four rebounds and four assists.

Wells finished its season with a 3-22 overall record and 2-14 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
