Women’s Basketball Team Drops to Soaring Eagles

The Wells College women's basketball team outscored the visiting Soaring Eagles from Elmira in the first quarter, but lost the lead in the second before falling 56-34 on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Three of the four quarters ended in two score differentials or less, but it was the second quarter that made the rally difficult for Wells.

Jordan Jacobs scored seven points in the first quarter to stake the Express to a 9-8 lead entering the second. Jacobs would finish with team-highs in points with 11 and blocks with three. After Jacobs' 11, Brittany Kropp and Sonia Rivera each added a half-dozen points with Kropp leading the team in assists with three and rebounds with nine. Lorissa Parks had eight rebounds with all eight being defensive boards.

Wells had its best point production late in the game when the team amassed its last 10 points in the last six minutes of the contest.

The women's basketball team will host its next game on Saturday, Nov. 23 against Hartwick College with a 2 p.m. start.
