Women’s Basketball Team Finishes Non-Conference Schedule

The Wells College women's basketball team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with the second of back-to-back road contests. The Express traveled to SUNY Cortland and dropped a 79-29 contest to the Red Dragons at Corey Gymnasium on Monday, Jan. 6.

The schedule now turns to North Eastern Athletic Conference opponents beginning with Gallaudet on the road this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 11 with a 3 p.m. start.

Jordan Jacobs had her string of six games with double-digit points snapped against Cortland when she finished with nine points.

Three Express players finished with a half-dozen points each that included Maritza Scharoun, Lorissa Parks and Sonia Rivera, with the latter netting her totals from beyond the arc.

Jacobs also finished with a team-high three assists and co-led the team in steals with three with Maeghan Westmiller, who also added a pair of points on the night.

Scharoun led the team in rebounds for the second time in as many nights by gathering eight boards.

After this Saturday's game against Gallaudet, the team will play another pair of back-to-back road games and travel to Lancaster Bible College on Jan. 12 with a 2 p.m. start.
