Women’s Basketball Team Displays Second-Half Resiliency

The Wells College women's basketball team had a short bench, but that didn't stop them from keeping the game close in the second half to the visiting Morrisville Mustangs on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Morrisville holds an 8-1 NEAC record and the Express played one of the conference's top teams to within a pair of scores in the second half despite having one starter out of the lineup and a second starter on the mend.

Take away the shooting from beyond the arc from both teams and Wells would have been on the better end of a 31-30 final, but Morrisville's 51 points from three-land carried them to victory.

Jordan Jacobs missed a double-double by one board after finishing with 10 points and nine rebounds. Jennifer McCumber matched Jacobs' 10 points to co-lead the team.

Lorissa Parks scored four and three points came from Maeghan Westmiller, who added a half-dozen boards. Rounding out the scoring with a pair of points each was Sonia Rivera and Mackenzie Kunkle.

The women's team next travels to SUNY Cobleskill on Wednesday, Feb. 5 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
