Women’s Basketball Team Matches Penn State in Board Production

The Wells College women's basketball has taken steps throughout the season to improve areas of their game. On Saturday, Feb. 15 the Express visited Penn State-Abington and although they didn't get the victory it was one of the team's better performances under the glass.

For the season, Wells had only had a higher rebounding total against only one other conference opponent with today's performance. On this day, the Express matched their opponent in rebounds and were led by Maritza Scharoun's 11 boards. Jennifer McCumber added eight rebounds with seven coming from Jordan Jacobs.

Jacobs had the hot hand up front with 23 points, while eight points came from each Scharoun and McCumber. Lorissa Parks added a three, while Sonia Rivera had a team-high four steals. For Jacobs, it was a season-high game in scoring and the first time she's topped the 20-point plateau.

The women's basketball team concludes a three-game road trip on Wednesday, Feb. 19 against SUNY Poly at 7 p.m. before returning home for a pair of games next weekend.
