WOMEN’S LAX DEFEATS MEDAILLE IN TRIPLE OT

Aurora, NY - Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles) scored a season high 12 goals, including the game winning goal 2:21 into the third overtime, as the Wells College women's lacrosse team defeated Medaille College 16-15 in triple overtime on Monday afternoon in Aurora. With the win the Express improve to 5-6, 3-1 in the NEAC, while the Mavericks fall to 2-7, 1-3 in the NEAC.

Although both teams were eliminated from the conference tournament both were playing for the third spot in the final standings. Medaille jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead on the heels of Michelle Kemp (Rochester) who scored two of Medaille's first three goals. The Express would not lay down as Lotkowictz would respond with two goals of her own trimming the lead to 3-2. With the Mavericks holding a small 6-5 edge, the Express would turn things on, scoring six goals over the last eight minutes of the half and taking a 10-8 lead into the break.

After Lotkowictz extended the lead to three, scoring 25-seconds into the half. The Mavericks would respond scoring three quick goals by Kemp and Krysten Seil, tying the game at 11-11 just four minutes into the second half. The Express and the Mavericks would exchange goals in the second half, playing to four different ties and three different lead changes in the half, but with fewer than three minutes to play the Express would have their backs against wall down 14-13. Battling the Mavericks defense, Lotkowictz would find an open Gabriella Decker (Encinitas, CA) for the tying goal at 2:31 sending the game into OT.

In the first overtime Lotkowictz would give the Express a 15-14 lead with 1:50 to play. The Mavericks would have the second overtime to respond and they would do just that, netting the tying goal with 1:40 remaining in the second OT sending the game into sudden death. It would not take long for the Express to end the game as Lotkowictz would record her 12th goal of the game sending Wells to their fifth victory of the season.

Lotkowictz finished with 12 goals and two assists, Decker finished with three goals, and Stefanie Miller (Barton) chipped in with one goal and one assist while Anna Breard (Biddeford) assisted on two goals to lead the Express offense. Liz Barclay (Laporte, PA) earned the win in net finishing with 11 saves, including one in overtime.

The Mavericks were led by Seil who finished with six goals, Kemp with five goals, and Jodi Lang (Tonawanda) who finished with two goals and two assists. Betty Herberger (Amherst) suffered the loss in net finishing with 13 saves.
