LATE GOAL LIFTS EXPRESS OVER CAZENOVIA

Aurora, N.Y.- Emily Lotkowictz scored on a free position shot with 10 seconds remaining in double-overtime as the No. 1 seed Wells College Express defeated No. 4 Cazenovia College 17-16 in the semi-final round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. With the victory the Express advance to the NEAC Championship against No. 2 seed Keuka College on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Aurora.

Lotkowictz paced the Express with six goals, five assists, and five ground balls. Sarah Allen added six goals and one assists, while Elizabeth Barclay earned the win in net with 16 saves.

Wells held the advantage in shots 41-38, including a 6-1 edge in overtime. The Express also controlled the draw 14-12, while grabbing 24 ground balls to the Storm's 20.

Neither team held more than a two goal lead the entire game as each fought for a spot in tomorrow's championship. The Express held a slim 8-7 lead after the first half. Both teams battled back and forth in the second half but the Express found themselves down 15-14 with less than a minute to play. Allen drew a foul and a free position shot with 42 seconds remaining and didn't disappoint finding the back of the cage sending the game into overtime.

The Wildcats of Cazenovia struck in the first overtime as Christy Foster netted her third goal of the game at 2:12. The Express battled back as Lotkowictz tied the game on an unassisted goal 1:22 into the second overtime and then fired the game winner with ten seconds remaining, sending the Express to their first conference championship game in program history.

Courtney Caldwell led seven Wildcat scorers with two goals and three assists. Cassandra Gazelle tallied four goals, while Liz Penree and Foster each notched three goals and added one assist.

No. 2 Keuka College earned their spot in Sunday's championship game with a 16-9 victory over No. 3 Morrisville State. The Express defeated Keuka in their only meeting back on April 14th by a score of 14-13.
