SAXONS OVERPOWER EXPRESS

Alfred, N.Y.–  The Wells College women's lacrosse team fell 19-10 to non-conference opponent Alfred University on Monday afternoon in Alfred, N.Y. Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) paced the Express with three goals and one assist, Stefanie Miller (Barton, N.Y./Tioga Central) added three goals, while Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) chipped in with two goals. With the loss the Express fall to 4-5, while the Saxons improve to 5-2 on the year.

Two goals by Lotkowictz and a goal by Bass, off a free-position shot,  gave the Express an early 3-2 lead but, the Saxons responded, scoring four of the next five goals to take a 6-4 lead.

Alfred continued to rally against the Express defense, finding the back of the cage seven more times before the break, including three goals with less than seven minutes to play, as they held a commanding 13-6 lead at the half.

The Saxons picked up right where they left off in the first half, scoring the first three goals in the second half, building a 16-6 lead. It was over from there as the Express would never get closer than nine goals.

Alfred outshot the Express 33-23, while holding the advantages in ground balls 42-25 and draw controls 17-14.

Anna Breard (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) and Eleanor Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) chipped in with one goal apiece to round out the scoring for the Express. Elizabeth Barclay (Laporte, Pa./Lincoln Academy) took the loss in net finishing seven saves.

Michelle Adams (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) had a game-high four goals and Emily Tobin (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) had a game-high six points on two goals and four assists to pace the Saxons.

The Express will look to bounce back against Bard College this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
