RAMAPO RUNS OVER EXPRESS

(Mahwah, N.J.)─ The Wells College women's lacrosse team scored the first two goals in their game against Ramapo College and then sat back as the Roadrunners rattled off six straight goals en route to a 17-3 non-conference victory over the Express on Saturday afternoon in Mahwah, N.J. The loss drops the Express to 1-2 on the season, while the Roadrunners improve to 1-1.
 
Sarah Allen (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North) led the Express with two goals and three groundballs, Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) added a goal of her own, and goalie Liz Barclay (Laporte, Pa./Lincoln Academy) finished with 15 saves to pace Wells.
 
Adrianna Tepedino led the Road Runners with three goals, two assists, and four groundballs, while Diana Silva earned the victory in net with six saves.
 
Ramapo held the advantage in shots (39-11) and groundball (20-15).
 
The Express came out and scored on an unassisted goal by Allen and a free-position goal by Bass to take an early 2-0 lead. However, it would be short lived as the Road Runners rattled off six straight goals, taking a 6-2 lead. Allen pulled the Express back to within three on her second goal of the half, but Ramapo continued to attack, scoring three straight goals to end the half with a 9-3 lead.
 
The defense continued to lead the Road Runners in the second half, holding the Express scoreless, while their offense tallied eight unanswered goals as Ramapo cruised to victory.
 
The Express return to action tomorrow against Bard College at 11:00 a.m. The game, originally scheduled to be played at Wells, has been moved Schoelkopf Field on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
