RAIDERS TOP WOMEN'S LACROSSE

AURORA, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team led 11-2 after the first half and never looked back en route to a 13-3 victory over the Wells College Express on Monday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express drop to 0-2 on the season while the Raiders improve to 2-3.

Courtney Grosser (Penfield, N.Y.), Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.), and Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif.) all tallied goals for the Express, while Bethane Wright (Weedsport, N.Y.) finished with 10 saves in the loss.

Alison Kenall finished with a game high five points, finishing with four goals and one assist to pace the Raiders. Lauren Miller finished with three goals and one assist and Kara Farnsworth and Vanessa Sell each tallied two goals for Roberts Wesleyan. Stephanie McClure finished with two saves in goal for the Raiders.

Fargnoli put the Express on the board early, sliding one past McClure on a feed from Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) to give Wells a 1-0 led less than two minutes into play. However, the advantage would be short lived as the Raiders scored five straight goals to open up a 5-1 lead.

Bass cut the lead to three on an unassisted goal mid-way through the half but, the Raiders continued to poor it on, scoring six more goals to take a commanding 11-2 lead they would never relinquish.

The Raiders held a slight 11-8 advantage in ground balls, outshot the Express 20-8, and controlled the advantage in draw controls 13-5.

The Express return to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Alfred University at 4 p.m. in Alfred, N.Y.
