Women's Lacrosse Places Four On All-Conference Teams
Four members of the Wells College women's lacrosse team earned all-conference recognition for the 2018 season. The North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams and annual awards on Wednesday, May 2.
The women's lacrosse team qualified for the NEAC playoffs for the first time since 2011 and had a 6-5 overall record. Wells was 5-4 in NEAC regular season games and finished in fifth place. The total of six wins was the program's most wins in a season since 2011 and it was achieved in four fewer games.
Mackenzie Maloney, a junior from Huntington, New York, earned first team all-conference honors at attack. She ranked first in the conference in goals during NEAC games with 44, and second in the conference in points (62) and assists (18) during conference play. In 10 games overall, Maloney had 52 goals and 74 points, which ranked first among NEAC players in points per game. Maloney led the Express in draw controls, ground balls, and tied for the team lead in caused turnovers. She earned NEAC Player of the Week honors for the weeks of April 16 and April 23. It is the third year in a row that Maloney earned all-conference honors. As a freshman in 2016, she earned All-NEAC First Team and was conference Rookie of the Year. She was on the All-NEAC Second Team in 2017.
Anna Bozeat, a junior goalkeeper from Jordan, New York, was named to the NEAC Third Team. It is the second year in a row that Bozeat earned all-conference recognition, as she was on the Second Team in 2017. Bozeat was second in total saves in NEAC games with 98, and her save percentage ranked fifth in NEAC games at 43.8 percent. She ranked second on the team with 34 ground balls and had six caused turnovers. Bozeat was a team captain and had 10 or more saves in eight of the 11 games for the Express.
Savanah Connors, a sophomore from Moriches, New York, earned a spot on the NEAC Third Team at midfield. In conference games she ranked 12th in the NEAC with 27 goals and 20th with 30 points. She was third on the team in overall scoring with 36 points on 31 goals and five assists. Connors was second on the team in draw controls (49), tied for third in ground balls (27), and tied for fourth in caused turnovers (14). Connors was a team captain, and this is her first-career all-conference honor.
Quinn Doubet, a senior from Virgil, New York, was selected to the NEAC Third Team on defense. Doubet was a four-year starter for the Express as a goalkeeper and defender. She tied for the team lead with 17 caused turnovers and had 21 ground balls and four draw controls. Doubet started all 11 games for Wells. It is her first-career all-conference honor.
