BIG SECOND HALF LEADS WELLS TO WIN OVER MORRISVILLE IN WOMEN’S SOCCER

Morrisville, N.Y. – The Wells College Express scored three goals in the second half of play to earn a 4-1 victory in its season opener against Morrisville on Saturday in women's soccer action.

Junior Amanda Heterbring (Java Center, N.Y.) scored three goals in the second-half for the Express to put the game out of reach. Heterbring also had one assist on the day.

Elizabeth Fish opened the scoring for the Mustangs 6 minutes into the first half.  Fish received a cross from teammate Christine Williams inside the 18 yard box and beat Express keeper Claire Petersen. The Express battled back and tied the game up in the 35th  minute. Heterbring fired a shot on goal, which Mustang's keeper Katie Tiffany deflected. Pam Conway (West Port, N.Y.) cleaned up the deflection and netted the tying goal. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Express outshot the Mustangs 27-5 on the day. Claire Petersen (Derby, N.Y.) made three saves in goal for the Express. Katie Tiffany stopped sixteen for Morrisville.

Wells is back in action on Sept. 8 as it travels to Baptist Biblical College for a 1 p.m. game.
