Aurora, NY – The Wells College women's soccer team was unable to solve the SUNY IT defense as the Express went on to lose 2-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Wells. Lauryne Zinter and Jane Burroughs each scored for the Wildcats who improved to 4-6(3-1 NEAC) with the victory. Savannah Duh led paced the Express with six saves in net. With the loss Wells falls to 2-6(2-3 NEAC).
The Wildcats would score first as a corner kick by Zinter would deflect off an Express defender into the goal for a 1-0 lead at 40:43 of the first half. SUNY IT would add an insurance goal late in the second half as Jane Burroughs would be left open in the box and float a shot over the outstretched hand of Duh for the 2-0 lead with 19-minutes remaining.
The Wildcats controlled much of the game holding a 17-4 advantage in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Express will next play NEAC opponent SUNY Cobleskill on Thursday, October 15 at 2:30 pm at Cobleskill.
