NITTANY LIONS TAKE BITE OUT EXPRESS

(Aurora, N.Y.)─   The Penn St. Berks Nittany Lions (1-2, 1-0 NEAC) jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first half and never looked back finishing with an 8-1 victory over the Wells College Express in North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon in Aurora. Alyssa Scheidt (Reading, Pa./Exeter) finished with four goals, while Taylor Kreider (Willow Street, Pa./Solanco) added three goals of her own to lead Berks. Juli Vibbard (Burlington Flats, N.Y./Edmeston) scored the lone goal for the Express, who fell to 0-3 (0-1 NEAC).

The Nittany Lions scored three goals in a seven minute span to open up a 3-0 lead to begin the first half. The Express showed a glimmer of hope as Julie Vibbard sent a perfectly placed shot from 23 yards out over the outstretched hands of Berks' goalie Cassidy Dawson (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) to trim the lead to 3-1 with 18 minutes to play in the half. Scheidt answered for the Nittany Lions, scoring seven minutes later as the Nittany Lions held a 4-1 advantage heading into halftime.

The Nittany Lions continued to pour things on in the second half scoring four straight unanswered goals en route to a decisive 8-1 victory.

The Express will look to rebound tomorrow against NEAC opponent Penn. St. Abington at 12:00 pm at Wells in Aurora.
