Express Blanked By Storm, 5-0

AURORA, N.Y. – Sophomore Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) posted a team-best two shots on goal, but the Wells College women's soccer team was blanked by the Storm of Keuka College by a 5-0 final Saturday afternoon at the North Athletic Field. With the loss, the Express fall to 1-4 overall on the season and sport an 0-3 record within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Storm improve to 2-3 overall and 2-1 within NEAC play.

For Keuka, Nicole Sharick scored the first of her two goals at 20:04 of the first half. Midfielder Ashley Swarts sent a pass through the middle of the field up to a streaking Sharick, positioned at the top of the box. Sharick was able to force the ball past a sprawling Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) for the first goal of the game, the eventual game-winning goal. After Sharick's two goals, Jessica Bandrowski added two goals of her own to extend the Storm advantage to 4-0. One minute after Bandrowski's second goal, Stephanie Havens chipped in an unassisted goal for the fifth goal of the contest.

Roser (1-4) collected her fourth loss of the season, making a career-high 15 saves in net for the Express. Keuka goaltender Marriah Gough turned aside all five shots on goal that she faced in the contest.

Keuka out-shot Wells by a cumulative 32-to-11 margin.

The Express return to action Sunday, Sept. 16 as they host the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College in a 1:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
