Women's Soccer Triples Up Gallaudet, 3-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Powered by three Express goals, the Wells College women's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over the Bison of Gallaudet University Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Express improve to 2-6 overall while the Bison fall to 1-6 overall. Within North Eastern Athletic Conference play, Wells stands at 1-3 while the Bison have lost both conference contests they have played (0-2).

With the score knotted at one goal apiece entering the second half of play, Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season at 49:28 for the game-winning goal. With Gallaudet keeper Kara Gulvas lunging out of the net, Stone was able to send a ball into the vacated net for the go-ahead goal. Shannon Blanford (Fayetteville, N.Y.) added an unassisted strike in the 78th minute to add extra insurance for the Express.

The Bison possessed a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute as Louisenie Philostin scored her second goal of the season, weaving through the box to score on Express netminder Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.). The Express were able to counter at 36:36 as Chelsey Martinelli (Chichester, N.H.) scored her first collegiate goal to knot the score at one apiece, setting up the second half heroics for the Express.

Roser (2-5) collected her second win with her performance this afternoon, turning aside 10-of-11 shots on goal for the Express. Gulvas (1-6) drops her sixth game of the season, allowing three goals on 14 shots.

The Express return to action Sunday, Sept. 23 as they face-off against the Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg in a 12:00 p.m. road contest.
