AURORA, N.Y. – Junior midfielder Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the game's lone goal as the Wells College women's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over the Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth Sunday afternoon at the North Athletic Field. With the victory, the Express collect their second-straight victory and improve to 5-11 overall on the year and to 3-6 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Eagles fall to 4-10-1 overall on the year and to 3-7 within conference play.

The Express have now won three of their last four games, including conference victories against Wilson on Oct. 13 and Saint Elizabeth this afternoon. With three straight victories at home, the Express have not posted a similar winning streak at the North Athletic Field dating back to Oct. 12, 2002 through Sept. 14, 2003, a span of five straight Express victories.

Tucker's goal came only 5:33 into the second half, lifting the Express to a 1-0 lead which they would not relinquish. From left to right, midfielder Dayna Vibbard (Edmeston, N.Y.) sent a ball from midfield that caught the foot of Tucker on a breakaway. Staying onside, Tucker was able to fire a shot on goal that eluded the grasp of Eagles netminder Catherine De La Cruz for her fifth goal of the season.

Express goalkeeper Ashley Roser (Taberg, N.Y.) collected her second shutout of the season and improves to 5-11 overall on the year, halting all six shots on goal that she faced. De La Cruz drops her 10th game of the year, turning aside 7-of-8 shots on net.

The Express hit the road to face-off against the Mustangs of Morrisville State College in a 5:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 20.
