Hiltbrand's Two Goals Elevate Women's Soccer, 2-0

WASHINGTON – Junior Heather Hiltbrand (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored her first two goals of the season en route to a 2-0 victory over the host Bison of Gallaudet University on Saturday. Wells picks up their first victory of the season, improving to 1-3 overall and to 1-0 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Gallaudet (1-4) falls to 0-2 within the league.

With the score tied at zero after the first 45 minutes of play, Hiltbrand hammered home a free kick from 30 yards out to place Wells ahead by a 1-0 margin at 48:30. She answered later in the 63rd minute, scoring off a cross from senior Shannon Blanford (Fayetteville, N.Y.) to increase the Wells lead.

Wells fired off 25 total shots in the game, a season-high mark. Hiltbrand led the way with seven total shots, converting her only two shots on goal. Freshman Sarah Halstead (Fulton, N.Y.) saw five of her six shots placed on goal while junior Karley Raczynski (Fonda, N.Y.) blasted five shots of her own.

Freshman Quinn Doubet (Cortland, N.Y.) picked up her first collegiate victory between the pipes for Wells, playing the second half in net for the Express after relieving classmate Abbigail Kime (Geneva, N.Y.). Both backstops made one save apiece while Jennifer Livengood made seven saves on nine shots for Gallaudet.

Mara Primmer also picked up her first career victory as a Head Coach for Wells this afternoon.

The Express return to action Sunday, Sept. 14 as they face-off against Wilson in a 1 p.m. road contest.
