Women's Soccer Sneaks Past SUNY Cobleskill, 2-0

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team registered two first half goals to defeat the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill by a 2-0 margin on Saturday. With the victory, Wells improves to 5-5 overall and to 5-2 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play while SUNY Cobleskill dips to 1-10 overall and 1-5 against league opponents.

Freshman Yanna Ososkalo (Lyme, N.Y.) scored her fifth goal of the season at 22:05 to place Wells on the board first. Carrying the ball up field, Ososkalo ripped a shot that caromed off a Fighting Tigers defender for the score. For the seventh time in eight games, junior Heather Hiltbrand (Fayetteville, N.Y.) scored a goal for Wells as she hammered home a pass from classmate Karley Raczynski (Fonda, N.Y.) at 37:14 to conclude the day's scoring.

Wells fired a total of 25 shots in the game but the Fighting Tigers defense limited the guests to only 13 shots on net. SUNY Cobleskill placed their fair share of the pressure on the Wells backfield, forcing the Express into issuing six corner kicks through the 90 minute affair.

Express backstop Quinn Doubet (Cortland, N.Y.) earned her fourth victory of the year, turning aside all four shots faced for her first collegiate, complete game shutout. Sabrina Adams made 11 saves for SUNY Cobleskill, allowing two goals to draw the loss.

Wells returns to action Sunday, Oct. 5 as they host Hartwick College in a 3 p.m. tilt at the North Athletic Field.
