Ososkalo Lifts Women's Soccer To 1-0 NEAC Victory

AURORA, N.Y. – Sophomore Yanna Ososkalo (Lyme, N.Y.) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 61st minute as the Wells College women's soccer team posted a 1-0 win over Wilson College on Sunday at the South Athletic Field. Wells moves to 3-9 overall on the year and to 2-3 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Wilson drops to 2-7 on the year while dipping to 2-4 against league competition.

Wells had fired 30 shots on goal without a goal before Ososkalo scored the game's lone goal at 60:31. Off of a corner kick from senior Heather Hiltbrand (Fayetteville, N.Y.), sophomore Madison Maloney (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) corralled the ball and sent a pass over to Ososkalo near the right post. She fired a shot that was blocked by a Wilson defender and later forced a ball past the sprawling Wilson goalkeeper for the game-winning strike.

The Express finished with 44 shots in the contest while the stout Wells defense limited Wilson to only two shots. Wells also had the decisive advantage in corner kicks, 19-to-0.

Wilson goalkeeper Brianna Martin allowed one goal on 21 shots faced, drawing the loss, while freshman Kayleigh Hurley (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) moves to 2-0 in her young Wells career after not facing a shot in the 90 minute affair.

The Express return to action Saturday, Oct. 10 as they face-off against St. Elizabeth in a 1 p.m. road contest.
