Four Earn NEAC Women's Soccer All-Conference Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team had four of its members earn North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer All-Conference recognition, the league office announced Thursday. The four selections from Wells are the most since the 2008 season.

Freshman Mackenzie Maloney (Huntington Station, N.Y.) received Second Team All-Conference honors while the trio of sophomore Yanna Ososkalo (Lyme, N.Y.), junior Amber Welsh (Cortland, N.Y) and freshman Carley Ryan (Middleburgh, N.Y.) secured placement on the league's Third Team.

The foursome helped the Express to one of its strongest offensive performances in team history. Wells posted a team record 116 total points of offense, scoring 45 goals and recording 26 assists as the squad claimed victory in a team-record six NEAC contests in 2015. After a difficult start, Wells rebounded to post six victories in its final nine contests.

Maloney finished 10th in the NEAC with 24 points of offense, tabulating 11 goals and two assists (11-2=24) to rank second amongst the league's rookie players. She was her team's leading point scorer against conference opponents, scoring 10 of her 11 goals against NEAC foes while netting two game-winning strikes.

Down the stretch, Maloney scored at least one goal in four of her team's final five contests to record 13 points (6-1=13) during that span. In one season, Maloney has posted the 15th-most career points since Wells joined the NCAA in 1986 and her 24 points on offense in 2015 is the sixth-most in a single season in the team's Division III history.

Ososkalo concluded her sophomore year with 27 points of offense, ranking ninth overall against NEAC student-athletes. Her 11 goals and five assists for 27 points led the team and her four game-winning goals tied her for first place among NEAC opponents. In addition, her single season point total was the fourth-most by any Wells player since 1986. Across a two-year career for Wells, Ososkalo has scored 16 goals and 12 assists for 44 points (16-12=44) to rank eighth all-time in her College's NCAA history.

Ranking third on the team with 16 points on offense, Welsh scored six goals and added four assists to help the Express in the midfield. Scoring the game-winning goal against Cazenovia on Oct. 31, Welsh ranked second on the team with four assists. Across 48 games played between Morrisville State College and Wells, Welsh has scored 15 goals and nine assists for 39 points on offense (15-9=39) and boasts six game-winning goals dating back to the 2013 season.

A two-time NEAC Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week selection in 2015, Ryan played all 19 games for the Express and scored three goals and two assists for eight points (3-2=8) as a freshman. Scoring her first collegiate goal against Lancaster Bible on Sept. 18, she later added goals against Morrisville State and SUNY Cobleskill to round out her season. Her first multiple-point game came against SUNY Cobleskill, scoring a goal and adding an assist for three points (1-1=3).
