AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's soccer team and the institution's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has partnered with a local community member to support Goals for Girls, an organization devoted to connecting girls from different countries and backgrounds through cultural exchange, service and soccer.

Across the previous few weeks, members of the women's soccer team at Wells have organized an athletics clothing collection drive throughout the residence halls on campus. At halftime during the women's basketball game on Wednesday, Dec. 9, the donations will be given to Zoe Costanza, a resident of Manlius, N.Y., who will be traveling to India to support the cause in person.

"I am excited that Wells College is helping to support my project for Goals for Girls," remarked Costanza. "Goals for Girls makes such a big difference in the lives of girls around the world. It really inspires me that I can help to make a difference in a girl's life who lives around the world by donating the proper athletics apparel to compete. I am grateful to all those who have helped me with this challenge of keeping girls in the game."

"The women's soccer team was initially approached by Zoe about teaming up to benefit this great cause," said Lindsay Achzet (Johnstown, N.Y.), the SAAC President. "From there, the SAAC representative from women's soccer, Kaylee Schworm (Edmeston, N.Y.), brought it to the committee and the committee was overwhelmingly supportive of the team's efforts."

"The women's soccer team is extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with a charity like Goals for Girls," said Schworm. "Helping to supply under-privileged female athletes with sports necessities that we take for granted and have such open access to is an excellent way to grow our sport worldwide."
