Undefeated SUNY Poly edges Wells women's soccer

The Wells College women's soccer team outshot its opponent, but lost by a 2-0 score at SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Sunday, Sept. 18 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Express fell to 3-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the NEAC. SUNY Poly remained undefeated with a 7-0-1 overall record and 4-0-0 mark in the conference.

SUNY Poly scored once in each half, with goals by Nakeya Stedman in the 36th minute and 59th minute.

Wells held a 16-13 advantage in shots in the match, but didn't break through the SUNY Poly defense or goalkeeper Angela Bartlett who made six saves. That included a 10-5 differential in shots in favor of Wells in the second half.

Madison Beriman and Amber Welsh had four shots each for Wells, and Emma Booth had three. Goalkeeper Karlie Maloney made four saves.

The Express has a mid-week non-league match at D'Youville College on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m.
