All-Conference Honors For High-Scoring Women's Soccer Tandem

Two members of the Wells College women's soccer team earned all-conference recognition as Mackenzie Maloney and Emma Booth were named to the Third Team when the North Eastern Athletic Conference announced its 2016 all-conference awards for women's soccer.

Maloney, a sophomore midfielder from Huntington Station, N.Y., made the all-conference lists for the second year in a row. As a freshman, Maloney earned Second Team honors in the 2015 season. She was second on the team in goals, assists and points in 2016 with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points. She has scored in double-figures in goals in each of her first two seasons and had 24 points each year. Maloney achieved these marks despite missing the last four games of the year due to injury.

Booth, a freshman forward from Elmira, N.Y., earned all-conference honors in her first collegiate season. She led Wells with 14 goals and added four assists for 32 points. Her 14-goal season is tied for the fifth-best single-season total in program history. Booth scored game-winning goals in victories over D'Youville College, Wilson College, Gallaudet University and The College of Saint Elizabeth. She was the NEAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4.

The Wells College women's soccer team finished with a 9-7-1 overall record, the most wins in a year since a 10-8-0 campaign in 2002. It was also the first winning season over that stretch. Wells was eighth in the NEAC and narrowly missed qualifying for the playoffs.
