Friday Home Opener For Women's Soccer Against SUNY Canton
The Wells College women's soccer team begins its 2017 season with a home-opener contest against SUNY Canton at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1. Fourth-year head coach Mara Primmer's team was picked to finish seventh by league coaches in the NEAC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll.
Wells posted a 9-7-1 overall record in 2016, which was the most wins in a year since a 10-8-0 record in 2002. It was also the team's first winning record over that stretch. Wells placed eighth in the NEAC with a 6-6-1 record. This year, the top four teams in each NEAC division qualify for the conference playoffs.
Returning all-conference selection Mackenzie Maloney is back to lead the way for the Express.
Following Friday's game, Wells returns to action Sunday, Sept. 3 at the Sage Colleges at 2 p.m.
