Persons Plays Final Women’s Soccer Game at Penn State-Berks

The Wells College women's soccer team saved its toughest opposition for its last game of the 2019 season. The Express took on first-place North Eastern Athletic Conference Penn State-Berks on Saturday, Nov. 2. The Nittany Lions scored six in the first and added five in the second while attempting 42 shots on Wells goalkeeper Jennifer McCumber.

The freshman keeper for the Express fell one save shy of a season-high total and five saves short of 200 for the season. It was one of just three games on the season where McCumber had at least nine saves in each half after finishing the game with 18.

For the season, McCumber recorded double-digit save performances in 11 games this season – including the last three -  and finished with 195 saves on the year to lead the NEAC. The next closest NEAC goalkeeper was about 70 saves shy of McCumber's totals.

Senior Erin Persons played her last game in Wells women's soccer uniform after collecting 17 points from the midfield position over the last four seasons.
