Women’s Swimming Collects First Victory Of The Season

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming team posted a 95-22 victory over Bard College at Simon's Rock Saturday afternoon in the Wells College Aquatic Center. With the victory, the Express collect their first victory of the season (1-0) following the non-conference meet.

In the first event of the afternoon, the women's 200 yard medley relay team of Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.), Meghan Terry (Delmar, N.Y.), Gabby Spencer (Trumansburg, N.Y.) and Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) captured the first seven points for the team, finishing with a time of 2:06.31. Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) collected first place in the women's 1000 yard freestyle, posting a time of 13:06.26 to capture first place amongst the field. Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) held off the competitor from Bard College by two seconds, posting a time of 2:28.97 in the women's 200 yard freestyle.

Spencer went on to compete as an individual in the 50 yard backstroke, beating the second place opponent by 10 seconds to earn first place with a time of 32 seconds. Terry captured her first collegiate individual victory, earning five points with a time of 37.17 in the 50 yard breaststroke. Sophomore Hallie Hanson (Ashville, N.Y.) utilized a two lap split time of 34.75 to post a first place finish in the women's 100 yard butterfly, turning in a cumulative time of 1:20.18.

Following a victory by Terry in the 50 yard freestyle (28.09), Hayley Bloom (New Brunswick, N.J.) posted a time of 1:09.48 in the 100 yard freestyle to earn five points en route to the team's victory. Feudale posted a first place finish in the women's 100 yard backstroke while Terry collected her third individual victory of the afternoon in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Touron, competing in the 500 yard freestyle, posted a lap time of 37.02 on the homestretch to power her way to a first place finish with a cumulative time of 6:23.78. Following a Feudale victory in the 50 yard butterfly (31.38), Spencer captured five points in the women's 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:11.96.

As a collective (men's/women's scores), Wells College defeated their opponent by a 181-50 cumulative margin.
