Women’s Swimming Sweeps Saturday’s Double Dual Meet

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming program collected victories over the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill and the Bison of Gallaudet University by scores of 61-34 and 53-42, respectively, Saturday afternoon on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill. Wells has posted four straight victories and has accumulated a record of 4-1 in head-to-head swim meets.

The Express started off the day with a victory in the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay, posting a time of 2:07.92. The team, including Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.), Meghan Terry (Delmar, N.Y.), Gabby Spencer (Trumansburg, N.Y.) and Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) edged out the second place squadron from Gallaudet by nearly 20 seconds. The time set by the Express foursome ranks 10th all-time in that event.

Touron and freshman Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) placed first and third, respectively, in the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle. Touron posted a time of 2:16.67, while Todd turned in a time of 2:31.35 in the freestyle event. Feudale responded to her teammates' effort in the prior race, swimming a field-best 27.75 in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle event. Feudale defeated Audrey Harper, her SUNY Cobleskill counterpart, by only .04 seconds to claim first place.

In another photo finish with Harper, Terry was able to secure top placement in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle, completing the event with a time of 1:02.21 to edge out the second place finisher by .70 seconds. Feudale answered in the day's 17th event, the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, with an additional first place finish (1:12.56).

In total, Feudale, who is the reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week, has now captured first place in nine of her last 10 events, placing second in the lone outlying event.
