Women’s Swimming Streak Snapped Against Buffalo State

AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming program posted a 77-39 loss to the Bengals of Buffalo State College Friday afternoon at the Wells College Aquatic Center. With the loss, the Express fall to 5-2 overall on the year while the Bengals improve to 4-2 overall.

Despite drawing the loss, the Express have still posted five victories to date on the season for the first time since 1988-89. Entering today with four straight victories, a win today would have tied the all-time program win streak – the last time Wells had posted five straight victories came from Nov. 10, 1983 to Nov. 18, 1983. During that streak, Wells posted victories against Oneonta (W 124-11), Hartwick (W 87-51), Binghamton (W 76-64), R.P.I. (W 94-44) and Utica (W 85-55) before tying Oswego on Nov. 29, 1983 (T 70-70).

Freshman Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) was the lone women's swimmer to claim an individual victory on the day. Feudale posted a time of 1:07.89 in the women's 100 Yard Backstroke, edging out her Buffalo State counterparts by four seconds. Her time is the second fastest in program history, trailing Jennifer Ingold's time of 1:06.42 set back on Nov. 19, 1991.

Despite placing second in the women's 200 Yard Backstroke to Buffalo State's Maud Forman, Feudale set a personal record in the event with a time of 2:30.29. That time ranks her third all-time behind Gabby Spencer (2:29.32, 1/22/11) and Ingold (2:19.35, 2/2/1992).

The women's swimming program returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 16 as they face-off against Marywood University at 1:00 p.m. Stay up to date with the latest news directly from the Wells College athletic department by "liking" us on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/WellsExpress) and subscribing to our Twitter account (http://www.twitter.com/WellsExpress).
