Feudale Receives Fourth Weekly Conference Award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the fourth time this season, freshman Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced late Monday. The team posted a 77-39 loss to the Bengals of Buffalo State College Friday afternoon at the Wells College Aquatic Center.

Despite drawing the loss, Feudale and the Express have posted five victories to date (5-2 overall) on the season for the first time since the 1988-89 season. The Express posted four straight victories from Nov. 10, 2012 to Dec. 1, 2012, their longest winning streak since claiming five straight victories from Nov. 10, 1983 to Nov. 18, 1983. During that streak, Wells posted victories against Oneonta (W 124-11), Hartwick (W 87-51), Binghamton (W 76-64), R.P.I. (W 94-44) and Utica (W 85-55) before tying Oswego on Nov. 29, 1983 (T 70-70).

Against the Bengals, Feudale was the lone women's swimmer to claim an individual victory on the day. She posted a time of 1:07.89 in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, edging out her Buffalo State counterparts by four seconds. Her time is the third fastest in program history, trailing Jennifer Ingold's time of 1:06.42 set back on Nov. 19, 1991 and Gabby Spencer's mark of 1:07.73 set on Jan. 18, 2011.

Despite placing second in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke to Buffalo State's Maud Forman, Feudale set a personal record in the event with a time of 2:30.29. That time ranks her third all-time behind Spencer (2:29.32, 1/22/11) and Ingold (2:19.35, 2/2/1992). She has placed second or higher in each of her last 14 races, finishing second only three times.

The Express return to action Wednesday, Jan. 16 as they host Alfred State College in a 1:00 p.m. swim meet.
