AURORA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's swimming team set the program record for victories in a season with a victory against the Wildcats of Cazenovia College Saturday afternoon at the Wells College Aquatic Center. With a loss to the Herons of William Smith College in the same meet, the Express conclude their regular season with an 8-4 overall record, the most victories in a single season dating back to the 1981-82 season in which the Express posted an overall record of 7-3.

The Express picked up their first victory of the day in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke as freshman Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) completed her event with a time of 1:07.15, setting a personal best time while ranking third all-time in program history with her finish.

Earlier in the meet, two Wells swimmers finished second and third in the Women's 1,000 Yard Freestyle – freshmen Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) posted times of 12:34.07 and 13:03.86, respectively, to earn points for their team. Daniels set a personal best time while also placing herself eighth all-time in the event.

Feudale and freshman Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) placed second and third, respectively, in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle with times of 26.97 and 28.21. Feudale's time places her fifth all-time in program history in the event. Feudale continued to crack the top-10 list, turning in a time of 2:32.16 in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke to place sixth all-time in the event.

In a pre-game ceremony, senior captain Gwenn Lillie (Potsdam, N.Y.) was honored for her contributions to the program across her prior four years. A two-year captain, Lillie helped the Express to their first North Eastern Athletic Conference championship as a junior and led Wells to their highest number of victories in program history.

The Express women, who are the reigning NEAC champions, return to action Friday, Feb. 15 as they partake in the NEAC Championship on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill. More information as it becomes available will be posted on http://www.Wells-Express.com with regards to the championship swim meet.
