COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Wells College men's and women's swimming programs will be participating in the 2012-13 North Eastern Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships starting Friday, Feb. 15 and concluding on Sunday, Feb. 17. The championships, held on the campus of SUNY Cobleskill within the college's Bouck Hall Natatorium, will include the Express, the Wildcats of Cazenovia College, the Bison of Gallaudet University, the Screaming Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth as well as the host Fighting Tigers.

Each day will begin with the preliminary round sessions, commencing at 10:00 a.m. followed by each day's event championship round sessions starting at 6:00 p.m. The championship round on Sunday will begin at 5:00 p.m. Admission for each day is set at $5.00 for adults and $3.00 per day for students – children under five years of age will be admitted for free, as will SUNY Cobleskill students with valid identification.

The women's swimming program will enter this year's postseason as the reigning NEAC champions, claiming the first title in program history last year by posting 460.5 points, edging second place Cazenovia by 39 total points. The men's swim team last captured the NEAC title in the 2009-10 season, claiming the first NEAC championship for Wells College in school history.

This season, the women's swim team set the program record for victories in a season, swimming to an 8-4 overall record in head-to-head meets. The previous record for the Express was seven victories in one season dating back to 1981-82. Freshman Hilary Feudale (Coal Township, Pa.) cracked the top-three times in program history in three separate events, including the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle (3rd all-time, 26.65, 1/16/13), the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke (2nd all-time, 1:07.04, 1/19/13) and the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke (3rd all-time, 2:30.29, 1/11/13).

Freshman Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) secured an eighth place time in the Women's 1,000 Yard Freestyle on Jan. 19, 2013 and both Daniels and classmate Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) placed seventh and 10th, respectively, all time in the Women's 1,650 Yard Freestyle on Jan. 16, 2013.

The men's swimming team almost rewrote the entire program's record books in 2012-13 as each of the team's eight current members all have a time within the top-10 in program history. Junior Matthew Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) set the program's top times in both the Men's 50 Yard Freestyle (22.48, 11/3/12) and the Men's 1,000 Yard Freestyle (11:36.93, 10/11/12) while freshman Patrick Munroe (Williamsville, N.Y.) holds the program's top time in the Men's 200 Yard Butterfly (2:20.52, 1/11/13). In total, this year's men's team created 36 new top-10 times in the record book.
