Schwend Nets NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – For the second time this season, freshman Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for her performance with the Wells College women's swimming program this past week, the league office announced Tuesday. Schwend and the Express posted a 114-58 loss to Buffalo State College at Kissinger Pool on Sunday.

Schwend posted a first place finish in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, completing the event in 2:39.17. In the 100 Yard Butterfly, Schwend's time of 1:07.17 placed her just under a second short of a first place finish.

She also joined sophomore Amelia Flint (Bath, N.Y.), sophomore Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.) and freshman Samantha Hall (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The foursome posted a second place finish with a time of 2:11.65.

The Express return to action Saturday, Jan. 17 as they face-off against Mansfield and Pitt.-Bradford at the Wells College Aquatic Center at 1 p.m.
