Women's Swimming Earns 81-69 Victory Over Pitt.-Bradford

AURORA, N.Y. – Senior Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) picked up two first place finishes as the Wells College women's swimming team posted an 81-69 victory over Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday. Wells moves to 2-9 overall on the year, defeating the Lions for the sixth-straight time dating back to the 2011 season.

Daniels netted a first place finish in both the 200 Yard Freestyle and the 500 Yard Freestyle, posting a time of 2:16.50 in the shorter event and a top time of 6:01.70 in the lengthier event, beating the second place finisher by more than 45 seconds in the 500 yarder.

The foursome of freshman Courtney Cloutier (West Springfield, Mass.), junior Gina Ross-Detro (Geneva, N.Y.), sophomore Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) and Daniels earned first place and 11 points in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:45.50. Leading off the event, Cloutier's split time of 1:09.37 is the seventh-fastest 100 Yard Backstroke time in program history.

Cloutier also earned first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, defeating the next closest finisher by only .03 seconds with a time of 1:10.35. She also picked up a second place time in the 200 Yard Individual Medley (2:31.71), trailing the top finisher by just over two seconds. Competing as an individual, Ross-Detro rounded out the first place finishers for Wells, collecting a top finish with a time of 1:23.83 in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

Wells will return to the pool this Tuesday, Jan. 19 as it travels to Penn St.-Altoona for a 5 p.m. showdown with the Lions.
