Women's Swimming Toppled By Cazenovia, William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – Several members of the Wells College women's swimming program set career-best times, but the Express were turned aside by the Wildcats from Cazenovia College and the host Herons from William Smith College on Saturday. Wells concludes its head-to-head slate of matches with a 3-11 overall record while Cazenovia moves to 9-5. The Herons improve to 8-2 on the season.

Wells fell to Cazenovia by a 138-65 score while William Smith dispatched the Express by a 165-52 margin.

Freshman Courtney Cloutier (West Springfield, Mass.) had a solid, all-around performance for the Express, setting career-low times in both the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:43.85) and the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:08.08). Her time in the 500 Yard Freestyle is the fifth-fastest in the team's 41-year history while her 100 Yard Butterfly time stands as the sixth-lowest time on record.

Senior Quinn Griswold (Alpine, N.Y.), freshman Emily Cooper (Clayton, N.Y), senior Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Cloutier teamed up for the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay and combined for the sixth-fastest time in program history (9:35.33). The first-place foursome from William Smith set a pool record with a time of 8:16.95.

Three freshmen also set career-low times for the Express – Emily Blake (Naples, N.Y.) posted her best 100 Yard Freestyle (1:14.29) time while Cooper completed the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:48.27, a personal best. Chasity Daniels (Manhattan, N.Y.) also contributed her best-ever 50 Yard Freestyle time in Saturday's meet.

Wells will compete at the SUNY Delhi Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.
