Women's Swimming Nets Second Place at SUNY Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. – Freshman Courtney Cloutier (West Springfield, Mass.) of the Wells College women's swimming program earned three podium finishes as her team captured second place out of five teams competing at the SUNY Delhi Spring Invitational on Saturday. Earning 253 points on the day, the Express have concluded its regular season of competition and will begin to focus on the upcoming NEAC Championships.

Cloutier earned her team's lone first place finish on the day, recording a time of 2:33.34 in the 200 Yard Butterfly. Despite just falling short of her career-best time in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:08.95, earning third place, she finished her first-ever 400 Yard Individual Medley attempt in second place (5:10.61).

Senior Quinn Griswold (Alpine, N.Y.) secured three career-low times for the Express, earning second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:16.77) and the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:29.60). She touched the wall in 2:36.79 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley, collecting third place after her strong performance.

Her time in the 200 Yard Backstroke bettered her own personal best time of 2:29.75 which stands as the fourth-fastest by any Wells swimmer dating back to the program's inception.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) picked up two second place finishes for Wells, completing the 100 Yard Freestyle in 1:03.16 after touching the wall in the 200 Yard Butterfly in 2:34.23. Her 200 Yard Individual Medley time of 2:43.54 earned her fifth place in a crowded field.

Senior Nina Daniels (Pittsford, N.Y.) captured second place in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:59.37), third place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:16.98) and fourth in the 50 Yard Freestyle (29.92).

Wells will return to action Friday, Feb. 12 as it competes at the NEAC Championships, held on the campus of Cazenovia College. More information about the three-day meet will be publicized in the coming week.
