Women's Swimming Drops Close Meets To Close Semester

The Wells College women's swimming team dropped a pair of very close dual-meets in a three-team meet including Gallaudet University and SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Schwartz Center swimming pool. Gallaudet defeated Wells 104-91 and Cobleskill came away with a 100-79 victory over the Express. In the other dual meet, Cobleskill defeated Gallaudet 108-88.

Courtney Cloutier won the 200-yard freestyle for Wells with a time of 2:12.97, took first in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:12.12

Kaitlyn Schwend was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:02.47, seven-tenths of a second behind the first-place finisher, and second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:40.45). It was her season debut in the 200 IM.

Cloutier and Schwend were joined by Gina Ross-Detro and Shannon Simmons to close the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:21.57.

Asa Cade was second in the 1000-yard freestyle, and Simmons was second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Chasity Daniels competed in the 200-yard freestyle for the first time this season.

Wells will take a break in the competitive schedule through the remainder of December and returns to action Jan. 13 at Utica College in a tri-meet with Utica and Alfred University.
